DAV Volunteer Transportation Program
Realizing that many disabled veterans are on small fixed incomes and live many miles from the nearest VA hospital, the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), in conjunction with the VA and VA Voluntary Services (VAVS), organized a nationwide Voluntary Transportation Network (VTN) to provide transportation for Veterans requiring medical care to and from VA hospitals and who have no other means of transportation.
There is no cost for these transportation services. To be eligible, you must be an honorably or medically discharged veteran or have a service-connected disability. Transportation runs from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, but a request for transportation must be made at least 7 days in advance of scheduled appointments.
Currently, approximately 20 vans serve VAPHS from 26 different counties throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and New York. Each month, between 1,500 and 1,700 Veterans receive DAV transportation.
