Gannon salute to veterans and wreath dedication Gannon University's Veterans Day salute will be held Wednesday from 2 to 3 p.m. in the school's Yehl Alumni Ballroom in the Waldron Campus Center. It will include a POW/MIA Fallen Warriors Ceremony, 21-gun salute, wreath dedication and guest speaker Brigadier General Timothy J. Hilty, assistant adjutant general, U.S. Army, Pennsylvania National Guard. The event is free.
Edinboro University to observe Veterans Day Edinboro University of Pennsylvania will mark Veterans Day with a flag ceremony at 11 a.m., at the Reeder Hall flagpole, 219 Meadville St., Edinboro, followed by speakers, including Andrew Hammaker, a U.S. Navy veteran who will discuss the importance of veterans in the community. The Edinboro University Student Veterans Association will host a pet adoption and post traumatic stress syndrome awareness fair on Wednesday at 11 a.m., in the Frank G. Pogue Student Center, Multipurpose Room B, 405 Scotland Road. Donations of pet care items for the Pets for Vets program and local animal shelters will be accepted at the free event.
Ridge Center to hold Veterans Appreciation Day The Tom Ridge Environmental Center, 301 Peninsula Drive, will host a Veterans Appreciation Day on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Events will include an outdoor ceremony, 10 a.m.; information tables, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; refreshments, 10:45 to 12:30 p.m.; and a free screening of the movie "D-Day: Normandy 1944" for veterans and families at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Admission is free. Meadville event to pay tribute to veterans Active Aging Inc. will host "Through a Veteran's Eye: A Salute" on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. at the Lew Davies Community Building, 1034 Park Ave., Meadville. Keynote speakers and veterans John Sites and Jim Edwards will discuss the French and Indian War in western Pennsylvania. There will also be a flag-raising ceremony, patriotic music by the Meadville Area Senior High School band, a continental breakfast and a special recognition of all veterans and service people.
