History Documentary Community Meeting

Your story or the story of someone you know could be key to helping preserve the 131-year history of the Pennsylvania Soldiers' & Sailors' Home. Are you willing to share photographs, postcards, newspaper articles, oral accounts of life at the Home? All materials provided will be copied or videotaped and returned.

A student from Mercyhurst University will be collecting and preserving the Home’s history from its construction to present day through the creation of a documentary. There will be a Community Meeting on Wednesday, November 8th, 2017 at 7:00 pm in the personal care dining room of the PA Soldiers’ & Sailors’ Home to provide an overview of the project, to discuss possible sponsorship opportunities, and to gather stories, items, and anything else to paint a clearer picture of the Home’s history.

Brews, Board Games, and Banter

Team RWB will be at the Erie Brewing Company (6008 Knowledge Pkwy, Erie, PA) on June 14, 2018, starting at 7 pm. Come out, have some fun, meet new people, and try some tasty, locally brewed beverages! Weather permitting, they will be out on the patio where their dogs can join in the fun. You do not have to be a member to come.

Welcome Home Veterans Appreciation Event at the Zoo

The annual Welcome Home Veterans Appreciation Event at the Erie Zoo is coming up on Friday, July 13 from 6pm-9pm. All Veterans and their families are invited. Tickets become available starting Monday, June 11.  Tickets are FREE but limited so act fast (tickets are limited to four per Veteran). Call for or pickup tickets at the Transition & Care Management Office (814) 860-2567 at the Erie VAMC on the 1st Floor; Voluntary Service Office (814) 860-2453 at the Erie VAMC on the 2nd Floor; and Vet Center (814) 453-7955 at 240 W 11th St, Erie, PA.
