HANDS Announces Funding for Veterans Housing

With today’s announcement by the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA) of $6.5 million in funding, Housing and Neighborhood Development Service (HANDS) is pleased that its plans for affordable housing designed to give preference to United States military Veterans and their families is poised to move forward at 2686 Peach Street in the City of Erie at the site of the former Golden Living Facility (Peach and Goodrich Streets).

HANDS is partnering with an extensive network of veterans supportive service agencies to provide services including outreach in the community and with their local V.A., case management services, assistance with obtaining V.A. benefits and other services. This includes but is not limited to help in obtaining health care services, financial planning services, transportation, fiduciary and payee services, and housing counseling.

Brews, Board Games, and Banter

Team RWB will be at the Erie Brewing Company (6008 Knowledge Pkwy, Erie, PA) on June 14, 2018, starting at 7 pm. Come out, have some fun, meet new people, and try some tasty, locally brewed beverages! Weather permitting, they will be out on the patio where their dogs can join in the fun. You do not have to be a member to come.

Welcome Home Veterans Appreciation Event at the Zoo

The annual Welcome Home Veterans Appreciation Event at the Erie Zoo is coming up on Friday, July 13 from 6pm-9pm. All Veterans and their families are invited. Tickets become available starting Monday, June 11.  Tickets are FREE but limited so act fast (tickets are limited to four per Veteran). Call for or pickup tickets at the Transition & Care Management Office (814) 860-2567 at the Erie VAMC on the 1st Floor; Voluntary Service Office (814) 860-2453 at the Erie VAMC on the 2nd Floor; and Vet Center (814) 453-7955 at 240 W 11th St, Erie, PA.
